\nQ: What are you doing?<\/strong>
\nA: I am repairing broken things that I found at the disaster area of the tsunami. Principally, I reconnect the pieces and fill the
\nholes with plaster when working with porcelain, and for metal I remove the rust and return it as closely as possible to its
\noriginal shape. When I star t repairing a broken item, I can imagine from the cracks how it must have broken. The damaged
\nsurface of the metal after I\u2019ve removed the rust, is the evidence of the salt water which corroded the metal. In this way I might
\nunderstand a little how all these different things were dragged into the tsunami.<\/p>\n

Q: Have you been to the disaster area yourself?<\/strong>
\nA: I have. I went in September 2011 and returned last month (October 2012) to observe the situation.<\/p>\n

Q: Where did you go?<\/strong>
\nA: I went to Higashi-Matsushima and Watari in Miyagi Prefecture, because my acquaintances there supported me.<\/p>\n

Q: When you\u2019ve finished repairing something, do you return it to its owner?<\/strong>
\nA: Since they\u2019re all things that I collected in the disaster area, there are almost no items of which I know the owner. I also think
\nthat even if I did f ind the owner, they might say they don\u2019t want to see it. But if someday, somewhere, I c ould return an item to
\nits owner, I would be happy.<\/p>\n

Q: Do you paint a color or print on top of the plaster?<\/strong>
\nA: No. If an item was repaired perfectly we would just forget again. I think these things should be repaired so that we c an see that the parts without color or print.<\/p>\n

Q: Do you repair things so t hat they can be used a gain?<\/strong>
\nA: No. First of all I don\u2019t quite have the technique for that, but even if I did, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s necessary to repair these things to be used again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
